North Rim Reopening for the 2026 Season
The National Park Service has announced that the North Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park will reopen for the 2026 season on May 15th. This is news many of us have been waiting for.

Last October, I returned to the North Rim to see it with my own eyes after the Dragon Bravo Fire. There was a quiet stillness to the landscape—different, yes—but not diminished. The viewpoints remain, standing strong, ready to be photographed once again. The light still moves across the canyon walls the way it always has.

There’s a quiet that lives on the North Rim—one that’s hard to describe until you’ve stood there and felt it for yourself.

I've spent many years photographing the North Rim, and I’m looking forward to being back this August with a small group, sharing in that experience together. I already have lodging reserved, and I’ll be announcing workshop dates very soon.
If the North Rim has been calling you—whether for the first time or as a return—this will be a meaningful season to be there.
