We had a great trip this year rafting 226 miles of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. We spent 10 days shooting rapids, hiking into the numerous side canyons, and making photos. We were blessed with great weather for photography, plenty of good food, and we got every camp and photo location we had hoped for. Above all else, we made great connections with the canyon and the river. 

I often think of this quote from John Wesley Powell, the man who led the first documented descent of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. I can hear the music of the river when viewing photos of my favorite place.

“The Grand Canyon is a land of song. Mountains of music swell in the rivers, hills of music billow in the creeks, and meadows of music murmur in the rills that ripple over the rocks. Altogether it is a symphony of multitudinous melodies. All this is the music of waters.” ~ John Wesley Powell
